Training
Individual Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
Klein / Bion / Winnicott in Relational Context

One of the School’s three main training programmes, recognised by the Serbian Union of Associations of Psychotherapists (SDPS) and designed in accordance with the European standards of the EAP, EFPP and SDPS.

The main aims are to study, teach and develop psychoanalytic psychotherapy, both in theory and in practice, and to foster the attitude, professional identity and high standards of psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic practice.

The training programme has three components: theoretical seminars, individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and supervision (both individual and in small groups), in accordance with the established European standards for training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

It is based on:

  • The tradition of the School of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy of Serbia, founded by our teachers Milan Popović, Vladeta Jerotić, Mirjana Renton, Ljubomir Erić, Nevenka Tadić, Ksenija Kondić, Tanja Đukić, Vladimir Kovačević, Miroslav Antonijević, Zorka Lopičić, Milica Martinović, Dušan Petrović, Milica Despotović, Tamara Štajner, and others.
  • Continuing the tradition of learning about object relations theory established by the Association of Klein/Bion/Neo-Klein Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Organisational Consultancy London Linkⅰ. This tradition is rooted in the Study Group in Kleinian Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, a programme of ongoing seminars and supervision led by Branka Pecotić, who worked in Belgrade and Londonⅱ; over a period of 25 years from 1985 onwards.
  • Consultations with Robert Hinshelwood (an Honorary Member of our School), one of the leading Kleinian psychoanalysts and the author of the Dictionary of Kleinian Thought.
  • Fostering and further developing the School’s internationalisation at all levels of training, as well as maintaining active collaboration with other psychoanalytic, group-analytic and psychotherapy schools and associations in Serbia, the region and internationally.

In addition to the works of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, the works of his first circle of collaborators and successors are also studied.

Particular emphasis in this training is placed on:

  • The study of object relations theory, including the works of Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion and Donald Winnicott, as well as those of their close collaborators and successors.
  • Relational psychoanalysis in the South American and North American traditions, which holds a particular place in this programme.
  • The study and understanding of similarities and differences between psychoanalytic schools of thought, and the possibilities for building bridges between them without compromising the distinct identity of the theories and practices of each school.
  • The development of dialogue between object relations theory in psychoanalysis and relational psychoanalysis.

The training is led by Dr Marina Mojović, in cooperation with training analysts and psychoanalytic psychotherapists from Serbia, the region and internationally.

ⅰ In 2003, the “London Link” Association was admitted to membership of the Serbian Union of Associations of Psychotherapists (SDPS), with Dr Mojović as its director.
ⅱ Branka Pecotić helped our associations in Serbia gain membership in three different sections of the EFPP: Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Couples and Families, and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Adults.
